More Perks Of Schooling At Home

You can still do school even when you're sick!  Lucy has gotten sick a few times today, but she's been really great with continuing to do her lessons. She's already done 2 math, 2 language skills, handwriting, some phonics and reading eggs and she's still wanting to do more, even though we're on Winter break. She's such a nerd hehehe

Clara's New Dress

Lucy said Clara was feeling left out so we had to post a picture of her today. I won Clara (a My American Girl Doll) 2 years ago at a raffle during the Nutcracker Ballet. She's been in her box mostly untouched until last week when Lucy insisted McKenna and Clara need to be besties. So here is Princess Clara in her new dress from Ruby Rose on Amazon.com. The dress actually has a really nice panel underneath too, I just need to fix the dress a bit so you can see that. I am pretty sure we're going to start collecting these dolls from now on. I love to play with them as much (maybe more) than Lucy does.

Our little reader

Lucy is reading at an amazing pace now! She's only about 60% done with her Language Arts curriculum with  OHVA but she's already reading out of their last K level phonics reader with little to no help. About all she needs help with are remembering which lowercase letter is a B and which is a D and a few sight words trip her up. She is reading with proper inflection when she sees a question mark or exclamation point and is retaining most of what she reads.

On another note, she is also doing simple math problems in her head with ease. Again, only about 60% through with her K curriculum but already zipping through story problems. She amazes me constantly and I am so glad we chose to school at home so I could see her progressing with leaps and bounds on a daily basis.

Our New Friend McKenna

Lucy got McKenna, the American Girls Doll of the Year for Yule. I chose her because she looks like Lucy and she's a gymnast like Lucy. Let's just say she's the new BFF. Grei is building a doll bed for her (and one for Chloe because she'll be getting an AG doll for Christmas) and Lucy couldn't wait to try it out. Mom said she'd help me make bedding for the dolls as well, so I'll post some pictures of that when it's done too!

McKenna in her new pink active wear, glasses, earrings and pigtails!

Here's McKenna trying out her new bed -- unpainted, unsanded and with a cardboard box mattress *laughs*

Yule Gifties Part 3

Lucy has been nagging me for an American Girls doll for ages. The girl of the year this year is named McKenna. She is a gymnast that has the same hair/eye color and Summer skin tone (even though McKenna looks a bit jaundiced here) as Lucy so I thought she'd be a perfect fit. I had let on that she was getting "some McKenna stuff" but didn't tell her she was getting the doll as well...

McKenna's Movie! :D

And her book!

And her other book! Note the not so thrilled look on her face.... hehe

Once she realized there was another box under the tree she got very excited.
As she started to unwrap she squealed "I see a face!"

The very super happy cheesey grin :D

I also bought McKenna her own presents hehe

"Little tiny roller skates!"

"Soooo cooool!"

"McKenna is getting even happier and happier!"   - McKenna got quite a haul herself!

Lucy changed McKenna into her pajamas so they could "relax together".

Lucy and McKenna chillin' in her bedroom, eating ice cream and watching Tinkerbell - Secret of the Wings.

Yule Gifites Part 2

Rainbow Dash!!!

We found these really adorable toys at Brushwood last Summer and I was only able to afford a couple of them. Lucy named her blue fox one Princess. She really wanted the cat and the bat, but they sold out before I could buy them. I contacted the girl online back in September and ordered these from her then and kept them in the closet until Yule. Suffice it to say, Lucy was shocked! :D

Oh my gosh! You got her!

It's Princess's sister!

Oh my goodness! Catnip TOO??

Princess told me you'd get her sisters but I didn't know if you would!

Tinkerbell: Secret of the Wings movie

A unicorn for her room

"I LOVE pirates!"

The hat is too big to stay on her head without the pigtails but I think she pulls it off hehe

Yule Gifties Part 1

All decked out with gifts!

I love how she holds the boxes with her feet. Little monkey toes hehe

Frankie Stein -- her old one sort of got dismantled hehe

BARBIE PEZ!

American Girls Movies - I got them for $5 each!

Tinkerbell and her sister Perriwinkle

Robecca

So we can make the boy dolls

A Zooble Palace! ^_^

It's a TARDIS shirt! She loves Doctor Who :D

The Zooble Palace from the front. She was so excited about her TARDIS shirt she forgot to show me the Zooble Palace.

Operetta

Being adorable

MONSTER HIGH STUUUUFF!

"sometimes you just need to rock" - too big for her but she'll grow!

Her old robe is too small so this one is a bit big to allow for growing room hehe

She said the angry bird was so silly because it's a boy dressed like a girrrrl

Blessed Solstice!

After having no snow to speak of yet this year, Lucy woke up this morning, looked out her window and exlaimed, "The Holly King came! He brought us snow all over our yard!" A fine gift for the Winter Solstice :)
